Elminster: The Making of a Mage Audiobook | Ed Greenwood |

Greenwood is really good at writing magic descriptions, if not a bit long winded. Dec 13, Mark rated it did not like it Shelves: Only fools obey the nearest priest. There may be a time where I decide to learn more of El’s perils, but for now it will remain in its place. One who’s mysterious and powerful, who pops in when he’s needed.

I first read this book several years ago and liked it. Aug 28, George Parker rated it it was ok. In this sense, it’s almost like a compile of short stories about the same character and put in a linier order I would not recommend anyone read this. Anywho, Elminster who leminster now Elmara meets an elf named Baerithryn he teachs her him all about becoming a cleric of Mystra goddess of magic.

The path he takes will lead to a Realms-shaking confrontation where Elminster has to make the elminsteer important choice of his long life. It jumped all over the place all the time introducing characters I had to rewind to figure out where they were coming from and why they mattered. Good book, terrible performance I loved this book as a child and it was just as fun reading it again years later.

I recommend this to all who love fantasy. Let me state first that the coolest thing about this book is the range of “classes” this character undergoes on his journey to become a choosen of Mystra. First of all there was a very strong distinction between good and evil. There, 3 quarters of the book. He goes to sleep and then wakes up. He was crappy at magic forever and didn’t know anything. But it really eminster all that good Salvatore and am reading his first DemonWars Saga book.

All the naysayers clearly don’t know how to take a Forgotten Realms novel for what it’s worth. They are elmimster to get into the floating tower of ‘Suchandsuch’.

The second volume of Elminster’s saga elminzter on my shelf with an unbroken spine.

Bury Elminster Deep Audiobook | Ed Greenwood |

Elminster’s archenemy, the vampiric Lord Manshoon, thinks he has destroyed Elminster at last. There is no Sauron in the Forgotten Realms, but there are these wonderfully powerful and fantastic, almost immortal, wizards that live there.

I would still recommend the novel but perhaps do so with a little preparation. It was dull and tedious. The elminstrr was scattered. While this is an amazing story, one that I’ve el,inster multiple times in paper version, the narration was not good and, in my opinion, made it impossible to listen to.

Bury Elminster Deep

The Temptation of Elminster Forgotten Realms: Yes, Ed Greenwood might not be an amalgam of Shakespeare and Hemingway, but that doesn’t make him “a bad writer”. Can any-male-one please explain?

The story was epic, the narration by John Pruden was perfect it brought the story to life. Ah, such an ugly word There was a lot of talk of characters that would not survive for 30 mins that had nothing to really do with the story.

No elmonster are available. The narrator did a poor job with voices and names, and was hard to understand at times. There were a few good moments in the book, but overall Ed green one has done much better with some of his other writings. I offer the following quotes: This would not be the book to make a movie. I was disheartened because it took such an effort to get through this book.

The Sage of Shadowdale, Book 2.

Terribly dull and unclear story After enjoying the previous two books, I expected to like this one also. I found the characters well-enough developed, the main one naturally the most rounded out. But Elminster survives in the form of magical ash, and with the help of his scion, a fop who is growing into a true nobleman, and his longtime companion Storm, he still has a chance to counter Manshoon’s insidious plots.

The story of Eliminster would have been less than 2 hrs. Did The Temptation of Elminster inspire you to do anything? A bookshop selling it very, very cheaply.

Every part of the book was strong but by the end I felt as though the story was dragging a bit and I was more than happy to reach the ending. The narrator speaks mostly in a bored voice while reading the story. And if you are describing a fight scene with magic, use transitory phrases so we know what on elkinster is going on
